Fire safety regulations NEW
We would like to inform you that the Fire Protection Regulations and the House Rules of the University of Graz were updated in March.
The changes concern the handling of lithium-ion batteries in the building (e-bike batteries etc.).
>>Vehicles with device batteries (includes all lithium-ion batteries that are built into devices) such as e-scooters and e-bikes may not be charged unattended in the rooms of the university. Lithium-ion batteries that show any swelling of the outer casing or signs of electrolyte leakage or signs of degassing, mechanical damage, or abnormal casing temperature are to be reported immediately to the Fire Department (122) as a fire alarm<<

House rules NEW
The amendments to the house rules concern the handling of e-bikes and e-scooters.

Legally required functions in operation
The University of Graz has the obligation to fill legally required positions. These are, among others, first aiders, object fire protection attendants, safety confidants. Keeping the operational functions up to date in UNIGRAZonline is essential. The UNIGRAZonline representatives of the respective units are requested to regularly check the functions entered to ensure that they are up to date.
Info: Function period for Object Fire Safety Wardens (OBSW) is five years, First Aiders is four years and Safety Confidential Persons (SVP) is also four years.

Ordinance flammable liquids 2023
The Ordinance flammable liquids 2023 replaces the old regulation from 1991. The requirements for users have been formulated much more clearly and adapted to the common practice of recent years.
The new regulation governs various aspects of the storage of flammable liquids. This ranges from storage prohibitions, to provisions for the storage of small quantities of flammable liquids, storage rooms, safety cabinets and the storage together of working materials of different hazard categories.

Alarm intervention -2290
In case of emergency - alarm intervention at the University of Graz:
If employees of the University of Graz (incl. lecturers) acutely find themselves in situations that are distressing, disturbing, threatening to them, and which they are currently unable to resolve on their own, the University of Graz offers an emergency number for an alarm intervention.
The alarm intervention is carried out by an external security company. Its mission is as follows: - Acceptance of an emergency call
- Recording of the data
- Arrival at the agreed location within the response time
- Resolving the conflict situation by:
- (a) inspection and rectification
- b) Activation of the police authorities if necessary
- c) Escorting the person(s) involved to the drop-off/parking/stop/next safe location.
