University of Graz was the first university in Austria to have a company fire department, which was founded on 02.11.2009.
What began as a company fire department has now been anchored as a voluntary fire department since 2018.
Volunteer fire departments are corporations under public law.

Our tasks include:

1. Basic, advanced and further training of fire department members at a scientific level
2. Research and development projects in the areas of disaster control, firefighting, fire protection and civil defense
3. Use of scientific knowledge in the course of supporting other fire departments in the fulfillment of their tasks, in particular when participating in operational activities
