University of Graz was the first university in Austria to have a company fire department, which was founded on 02.11.2009.
What began as a company fire department has now been anchored as a voluntary fire department since 2018.
Volunteer fire departments are corporations under public law.
Our tasks include:
- Basic, advanced and further training of fire department members at a scientific level
- Research and development projects in the areas of disaster control, firefighting, fire protection and civil defense
- Use of scientific knowledge in the course of supporting other fire departments in the fulfillment of their tasks, in particular when participating in operational activities
